ProjectsBelow are brief summaries or ‘edited highlights’ of the work LYRIC has done on behalf of clients. It is not a comprehensive list due to the sensitive nature of some projects. We hope it gives you a sense of the scope of work we undertake. Capital City Initiative 2009On 1 Sep in Parliament, Prime Minister John Key and Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast launched The Capital City Initiative — Our Extraordinary Democracy, whose aim is to celebrate more Wellington’s status as capital city. LYRIC has been part of the small team nursing this collaborative project to life since 2007. Our involvement has included: researching the roles & functions of government; writing the launch document; helping organise stakeholder workshops; preparing speeches, media kit material, and web content; and liaison with the Mayor’s and PM’s offices. The launch was a great success, and achieved extensive publicity on TV, radio and in print including front-page in the Dominion Post. LEADR NZSince mid-2008, LYRIC has worked with the professional association of mediators in New Zealand, LEADR NZ, to raise its visibility, grow its membership base, and better demonstrate the added value that mediation and alternative dispute resolution brings to a variety of settings. We continue to work closely with the executive team and Board of this not-for-profit organisation to make the most cost-effective use of a limited budget. Our main strategic focus on media relations is paying dividends, with growing coverage in national legal and business media including a recent feature in the Dominion Post ‘Business’ pages. A review of the website and marketing collateral is also underway, as are several other initiatives. World Environment Day 2008Wellington was the 2008 host of World Environment Day, a United Nations event. Wellington City Council worked with the Ministry for the Environment in putting together a programme of public activities to celebrate the event. LYRIC was called in to support a team of Council staff who made these activities happen, on time and to budget. Our role involved liaison with staff at the Council, Ministry for the Environment, and Positively Wellington Tourism (which hosted international media). LYRIC researched and wrote the published programme of events, plus a list of ‘tips for a greener lifestyle’. We prepared a suite of media materials, and helped to provide up-to-date information for the Council’s website. LYRIC also handled media liaison, particularly with the Dominion Post and other key Wellington and national media. The programme of events was considered hugely successful, with hundreds of Wellingtonians getting involved. National Jewellery Showcase 2008This is an exhibition of New Zealand contemporary and fine jewellery, and is the only public national jewellery event. Now in its third year, the showcase presented the work of more than 100 jewellery designers and attracted close to 3000 visitors. LYRIC was asked to handle all publicity. We began working with the event organiser early in the year, updating the communications strategy and media list, and working with long-lead time publications for coverage to coincide with the event in early June. In the weeks leading up to the showcase, LYRIC worked steadily to build media interest. The event featured on TV3’s Nightline, and attracted several prominent items in the Dominion Post and other key Wellington media (both pre- and post-event), as well as several national publications. Mahatma Gandhi statueLYRIC was asked by Wellington City Council to help organize the unveiling of a bronze statue of the Indian leader and philosopher Mahatma Gandhi, which was gifted to the city by the Indian High Commission. In the three months leading up to the unveiling in October 2007, we managed ongoing liaison with the Indian High Commissioner, Mr KP Ernest, senior staff in the Mayor’s Office, the office of the Governor General, who officiated on the day, as well as staff in the Council’s planning, events and communications teams. We prepared all media materials, and helped deal with media, security, police, diplomatic representatives and other VIPs on the day. Our WellingtonIn 2004, LYRIC was asked to conceive, write and produce a marketing document about Wellington that could be used to promote the city in its offshore marketing efforts. This document focused on Wellington as a smart capital city that punched well above its weight (or size!). Beautifully designed by the Council’s inhouse design team, the Our Wellington document was such a success that LYRIC was asked to update the content the following year for the Our Wellington II version. MovetoWellington.com web moduleIn 2006, LYRIC was called in to write a new module for Wellington City Council’s website, providing a comprehensive guide to living and working in Wellington. It was aimed at attracting new migrants to the capital city, with useful information about everything from housing to healthcare. LYRIC worked with a researcher to source factual material, then organised and distilled this information into compelling and web-friendly text. Big Fish IILYRIC undertook editorial management of a marketing showcase document as part of its work with the middle depth species of New Zealand’s seafood industry. This was the second in an occasional series of BIG FISH publications. We worked with key staff at the Seafood Industry Council and the Hoki/Squid Fishery Management Companies to brainstorm story ideas and refine them, an exacting task. We liaised with all interview subjects, and managed a team of writers (local and offshore) commissioned to produce stories. We edited the final material, and ensured approvals were gained for each piece. We worked closely with Airplane Studios through the process of design and photography. This 58-page document was extremely well received by key stakeholders, and remains a benchmark for publications that LYRIC has worked on. AXA Personal Superannuation launchLYRIC acted as collaterals manager for the launch of a new AXA Personal Superannuation product. This involved coordinating the writing, production and internal approvals process of about 20 individual marketing materials, including an Investment Statement. It involved extensive liaison with external suppliers and numerous AXA staff including legal and tax counsel. We also assisted with the successful running of a two-week national roadshow aimed at financial advisers and brokers. Clients
